Appoint the wrong person to deal with marketing at your peril

It’s understandable, you want to spend your valuable time dealing with new leads and customers, so you ask your assistant to sort out the advertising.  It may be worth asking yourself if you’ve taken the right path.

If your assistant doesn’t truly understand your business and the mechanisms with which you generate business, then your company could potentially hit the rocks 6 months down the line, when your assistant’s marketing efforts prove to be wrong. There’s always a delayed reaction from any marketing decisions taken, and they tend to occur anything from six months to a year down the line, so if you hit a mini recession, or a new competitor moves into your patch, it may take you time, much effort and money to recover your position.
